Kitchen Cabinet FAQs

Do I need a building permit to install new kitchen cabinets?

In general, yes. Most cities regulate construction through the issuance of building permits and the removal and replacement of kitchen cabinets usually requires a building permit. In addition, if plumbing or electrical work will be required as part of the installation, you may need plumbing and electrical permits as well. Check with your community’s building department for details.

How much do kitchen cabinets cost?
It’s impossible to give a definitive answer to the cost of kitchen cabinets question. The cost of your new kitchen cabinets will depend on the choices that you make and the extensiveness of the design. Obviously, the more cabinets involved, the higher the price. Other factors that affect price are wood choice, accessories, and upgrades. Here at Distinguished Cabinets we work with you to create a cabinetry design that fits your budget. However, we do not believe in taking shortcuts and cutting corners.

Is there a warranty on my cabinets?
Yes, KraftMaid cabinets come with a limited lifetime warranty that guarantees that your kitchen cabinets will be free of defects in material and/or workmanship. This warranty applies to normal residential usage for the lifetime of the cabinets to the original purchaser.

How do I maintain my new kitchen cabinets?

While KraftMade cabinets feature DuraKraft finishes that protect against the elements, regular cleaning will ensure lasting beauty. Do not use abrasive or powdered cleanser, wax polishes, scouring pads, or spray cleansers containing petroleum solvents. Instead, use a damp cloth to gently wipe the cabinets followed by a clean, lint-free cloth. A gentle, emulsion-based polish, such as Murphy’s Oil Soap, can be applied to wood cabinetry finishes.

Glass door inserts can be cleaned with glass cleaner applied directly to a towel. If your cabinetry incorporates lead, copper-, white-, or gold-clad mullions, avoid contact with the glass cleaner.

Is it possible to stain other wood in the kitchen to match my new cabinets?
If you’re a do-it-yourselfer who wants to stain other wood items to match, we can order a stain for you. The stain information is located on your receipt as well as on the label that is attached to the sink base cabinet.

Because each set of KraftMaid kitchen cabinets is built to order, expect about a four week wait once you place your cabinet order. All KraftMade cabinets are built in the United States of America at a facility in Ohio. Once built, they must be shipped to Florida and then installed by local Distinguished Cabinets crews.
